VOLUME 3 ~ Issue 1 ~ Spring, 2008

SPRINGING FORWARD... Longer days mean more time for all the things we like to do!  For me, that means more time to work on my up and coming book.  This one will be about DOGS!  The title is a big secret, but look for this one to be wagging its tail at you sometime in the Fall!

March came in like a lion for me with all the wonderful Read Across America celebrations I participated in.  It’s really great to see so many schools joining in on the fun of celebrating books and reading.  Thanks to all the schools who made such great parties!

EMAIL

It’s not too early to reserve your spots for next year and March, our national month for Read Across America, is already being scheduled.  Coming in 2008-2009, I’ll have even more programs to choose from!  I’m going to be offering extended Artist In Residencies, Deluxe Publishing Packages for the coolest Class Books ever, more poetry workshops and a selection of exclusive Teacher In-Service programs.

Visit the SCHOOL VISIT section to get all the information you will need to begin planning a school visit with me.  Then, email or call me.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Teachers:  Did you know that all of my books are available as

Well, I suppose that if you’re going to write and illustrate a book about TREES, then getting the National Arbor Day Foundation’s Media Award for it is about as good as it gets!

Teacher In-service Sessions are great.  Think about adding this loose, fun creative time to your school’s visit with me.  Your teachers will hear about my “Components of Successful Classroom Writing,” get tons of educational resources, have a great time and be creatively rejuvenated!

Education is as much of a passion for me as is writing and illustration.  The time I spend in schools has always been integral to my work as an author/illustrator.

Join me at this year’s AHS Growing Fertile Minds & Communities National Children & Youth Garden Symposium. I’ll be speaking about Cultivating Creativity and hosting a hands-on, tree-inspired poetry and collage art session!

July 24-26 in the Greater Philadelphia Area, visit www.ahs.org for details!

Complete Conference Information can be found at www.ahs.org

During this annual gathering of educators, garden designers, community leaders, and children’s gardening advocates, you will discover various approaches for cultivating fertile minds and communities through innovative programs and gardens based in the Philadelphia area and across the nation. The Symposium’s diverse educational offerings include inspiring lectures by nationally recognized keynote speakers, field trips to exemplary gardens, educational sessions led by experts, and a poster session.
